According to I4U News, Amazon has officially released the Kindle 2 today, one day earlier than planned.

I got an email that it shipped. I paid for 2 day shipping, and the delivery date is still Feb. 26. It looks like it is going regular UPS.
So I don't know if I will actually get it earlier than expected.
BTW, they are still charging me for 2 day shipping.
Maybe this is the reason for the early shipment -- trying to meet delivery dates with so many going out?
Mine just arrived! I have the luxury of living within 20 miles of an Amazon distribution center, so I didn't even pay extra for fast shipping.
Funny, though, that I have yet to get an e-mail from Amazon telling me that it's on the way!
I got my K2 this afternoon and I immediately saw the benefit of the improvements. The smaller buttons are not engaged if you press on the outer edge - something that tripped me up with the first Kindle.
It's crisper, clearer and faster, making reading even more pleasurable because each page turns so smoothly. I didn't think being slimmer and lighter would matter but it's amazing how this one is even more comfortable to hold and read.
I also appreciated the fact that all the books I bought or had samples of were archived on my K2 and with the click of a button my subscriptions were transferred over, too.
I still have a lot to learn, but in my first couple of hours I can say I'm glad I invested in K2!
Got mine yesterday. It's charged and I've loaded it with several books.
I'm wondering if there's a way to tweak the brightness. My "paper" seems too gray - rather dark. I thought I read the entire manual but didn't see this addressed.
Any help is appreciated!

I got mine yesterday and am very happy with it! But.... the web browsing is not as easy with the little joystick as it was with the scroll bar. I have low vision and cannot see the the hightlighting. Any suggestions?
Also, I cannot get it to play the music I loaded on.
Otherwise, I love it!!!
